It is recommended to start training in rowing from the age of 12. However, each child’s physical capability and readiness to start rowing earlier are assessed individually. Specialized coaches and physiotherapists initially focus on general physical preparation for young beginners, particularly on strengthening deep muscles and balance. Regular basic gymnastics exercises help build overall muscle strength and prevent sports injuries, while training longitudinal muscles contributes to an athletic physique. Rowing engages all muscle groups, and a carefully designed training program aims to perfect rowing techniques.
Rowing is considered a highly intellectual sport that builds character, enhances strategic thinking, discipline, concentration, and other personal qualities. It is a prestigious sport in the world’s top universities, and in the United Kingdom, the annual Henley Royal Regatta attracts nearly the entire royal family.
In Lithuania, more than ten rowing regattas are held annually, and the strongest athletes represent the country in the Olympic Games, World, European, and international championships.
